Free or FEE AVG from Grisoft?

Have you received a pop up from your AVG antivirus asking if you want to upgrade to 2011?  Well be careful that’s a FREE trial version.  If you poke around their website you’ll not find the truly FREE version, at least I couldn’t.  So I went to Google and searched for “avg free”  Here’s the link. This is the REALLY free 2011 version.

I wish grisoft would allow you to donate money.  For myself (home use) I don’t see the logic behind buying a copy and then having to pay year after year for it.  I can just use the free version and never have to pay again.  I’ve been using AVG from grisoft for probably 10 years.  Love it!

UPDATE: I would have a serious look at Microsoft Security Essentials.  Also free as an alternative to Grisoft’s increasing thrust to either trick you into trying the “pay” version or getting so tired of the advertisements that you purchase their product.  Don’t get me wrong, they have a nice product and they should get paid for it.

Diamond Computer Systems Registory Protection

I highly recommend you download and install the “FREE” application from Diamond Computer Systems RegProt “Registry Protector”.

Registery Proection

Registery Proection

This will alert you to when programs are trying to put themselves into the system registry.  Many mal-ware programs will do this so they will be able to start each time the system is rebooted.

I have used this application on Win XP home and Win XP Pro
